Check out what we can do for you before your extruder even arrives. All of the following services are available at request and may be quoted for each machine in our inventory.
Gearbox and Feed Throat
Our inspection journey begins with the gearbox. Even if the extruder itself is in good shape, the gearbox often needs replacing or updating from time to time. These inspection items allow us to assess any damage so we can get to work and make it right.
The gearbox is drained, and the gears, bearings, and seals are all visually inspected. Oil analysis and heat and vibration testing are also available upon request. The gearbox cooling system is inspected for functionality. If required, motors, pump heat exchangers, and cooling lines may be tested as well.
The extruder feed throat is visually inspected for signs of wear, and the feed throat cooling line is flow tested. Reline services are available as needed.
Screw and Barrel
To maximize efficiency and production rate, we offer screw and barrel measuring. In many cases, we can pull the screw, clean the barrel, and provide measurements and a condition report for extruders 1 to 6 inches. We also test barrel heaters for functionality and safety, and we analyze ohm readings to ensure the strength of the coils.
Cooling System
Extruders can host several different cooling systems, each with their own unique set of necessities and requirements. Our expert inspection team assesses all types of cooling systems for functionality.
For water-cooled extruders, we test heart bands for cooling flow, solenoids for functionality, and machine plumbing for flow and leaks. We also electronically test recirculation pump function and inspect for leaks. Heat exchangers are then tested for pressure and function.
For air-cooled extruders, we test the cooling fans for functionality, stuck fans, and proper amp draw.
Motor and Drive
Arlington Machinery uses industry-standard technology to perform Meg Tests, but we also go a step further. With the All Test Pro 34analysis, we can assess the main drive motor to check for proper electrical and insulation resistance. Next, we test and run AC/DC Drives without load and test motor cooling, if available.
To improve your installation experience, we also match-mark wires as needed.
Temperature Control Panel
Temperature control is arguably the most important part of the extrusion process, both for the safety of your crafter and for precision in production. For every extruder, we test the temperature controls and electronically test relays, contractors, fuses, and more. Thanks to our distributorships with many high-quality parts suppliers, we have fast access to parts including drives, controllers, and pressure gauges to ensure your machine is up to current standards.
